National School Social Work Week is March 1-7, 2026

National School Social Work Week is March 1-7, 2026 – a time to recognize and celebrate the vital role school social workers play in the lives of students and families every day.

From supporting youth and connecting families to housing and community resources, to providing social-emotional guidance and crisis support, school social workers care for the whole child. They help ensure that every student feels safe, supported, and ready to learn. At Visions, our social workers are dedicated to promoting the well-being of our students, removing barriers to success, and empowering them to focus on their education and future.

"My passion for social work stems from lived experience. I grew up navigating school challenges and family trauma without always having the support systems I needed. Those moments taught me resilience, but they also showed me the importance of having someone who truly listens and advocates for you. As a school social worker, my mission has always been to be the person I wish I had growing up: a consistent, compassionate presence who supports students through their challenges and helps them recognize their strength and potential. Every day, I carry that commitment with me by supporting not only students, but also their families, ensuring they feel heard, empowered, and connected to the resources and care they need so that no one feels alone in their journey."

"I am passionate about social work because I believe in the powerful impact caring professionals can have on students and families. I was drawn to this profession because I understand how meaningful it can be when a young person feels seen, supported, and heard. Our students demonstrate incredible resilience as they navigate academic expectations and personal challenges. I am grateful for the opportunity to partner with them, their families, and staff to help remove barriers, strengthen social-emotional skills, and ensure every student has access to the support they need to thrive. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to contribute to a school community where students are empowered to use their education to create positive life outcomes."

"Social Work is encouraging others to turn up the music, to live, sing, and dance like no one is looking. Social Work is creating a safe space to listen, and help heal the hearts of those who lost a loved one. Social Work es bilingue, understanding that beauty is in diversity. It is helping create a community so students, parents, and families can be safe while our basketball players take that free throw shot for the win. Ballin! It is helping others gently stand when they have fallen. It is a symphony of carefully curated supports to empower our most vulnerable students. It is remembering each day, to take care of ourselves, as we do the amazing work to support the next generation of leaders and healers. I am thankful and honored to be part of this amazing Visions Social Work Team and bring the best to our table. With appreciation, respect, and gratitude."

"I feel so honored to have a job where my central goal is making human connections. There are few things more therapeutic or transformational than being seen by another person. We get the opportunity to be that person for young people, and to partner with students and families through their struggles and their successes. National Social Work Week is about spreading awareness of this diverse profession! Social workers can be advocates, case managers, licensed therapists, and much more! We approach our work with students and families through a social justice lens, addressing barriers that keep disenfranchised and marginalized communities from THRIVING. We empower through education, advocacy, and access to resources. It’s pretty powerful work, and I’m honored to do my little piece of it."

"Our social work team is a group of uniquely talented individuals who care deeply about students and families. They bring diverse professional backgrounds, lived experiences, cultural competency, and clinical expertise to this work, but even more importantly, they bring heart. They genuinely believe in being relentless when it comes to supporting students and families. They understand that behind every referral is a child with a story and a family seeking hope. When barriers arise, they lean in. When students are in crisis, they show up. When families need advocacy, they respond. They are truly a special group of professionals, and it is both an honor and a privilege to work alongside them every day in service of our Visions community."
