To help students succeed
Visions offers a variety of support services to help our students succeed. We ensure our students have access to many opportunities that not only strengthen their personalized learning experience, but improve their interpersonal and technological skills, too. We offer student clubs, weekly events, community college opportunities, creative writing classes, social services and Career Technical Education partnerships. Learn more about what we offer below.
At Visions, we believe that extracurricular activities are just as important as academics. By joining a club or attending a weekly event students can develop new skills, make friends with similar interests and have fun. We’re proud to offer over 20 student clubs for a variety of different interests like basketball, photography, running, reading, STEAM, the environment, cooking, the military, teen parenting and more! Learn more about our clubs, groups and events here.
We support student success by creating higher education opportunities. We provide access to community college courses for qualified students through Dual Enrollment Programs. Students can choose from a list of approved courses taught virtually by college professors. For many of our students, we also help cover the costs of materials and textbooks for these classes while enrolled allowing them to simultaneously earn college and high school credits. Learn about all the community college options available to Visions students here.

Success Through Education Mentoring (S.T.E.M) is a partnership between the University of California, Davis and Visions In Education. Visions students meet one-on-one with UC Davis student mentors to receive support and valuable information about college life and success. The program recruits UC Davis undergraduates from a variety of majors and high school students who are committed to this year-long program. College mentors are a wonderful resource for high school students and participants in our program can look forward to building lifelong friendships. The mentors and Visions high school students meet monthly to foster professional development, confidence, leadership and determination.
Visions offers social services and support for students and families in need. Through Referral Services, Visions connects students to local support services and counseling options. Student Outreach removes barriers so that a student may be successful. This program provides focused services to students seeking support for academics, behavior, attendance, substance abuse, mental health or social issues. Student Outreach is a process – not a curriculum or treatment center – that connects students to services within the school and community to create a network of support. Additionally we’re partnered with Care Solace to provide mental health resources to our students, families and staff. Learn more.
This writing class is designed to manifest a creative, but safe environment for students in grades 6-12 to realize that we are all writers. Students read, discuss and write during class. Students have the opportunity to share their work, but it’s never required. All work written in class is treated as fiction and all feedback is positive. Students are allowed to blossom as writers and discover their writing voice in a structured environment in which new writing is treated gently and with honor. The high school class culminates with the publication of a book in partnership with 916 Ink and the middle school class creates an anthology. Learn more and watch a video of our writing students here.
