Collaboration and Leadership Shine at Visions’ October PLC Institute
Visions In Education educators came together this October for two days of learning, collaboration, and celebration at the annual Professional Learning Communities (PLC) Institute. PLCs are teams of educators who work together to strengthen teaching and improve student learning, and this event helps bring those practices to life across Visions.
The Institute spotlighted our Guiding Coalitions, the teams that lead PLC work within their communities. Their expertise, commitment, and leadership were on full display, and they continue to grow across Visions. The event also directly supports our commitments in Goal 1 of the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).
Participants chose from twenty EdCamp-style sessions facilitated by Visions Instructional Leaders, so each educator could focus on the topics most relevant to their own growth and the communities they support.
Dr. Vasa Lokteff, a keynote speaker at the conference, praised the progress: “One of the most exciting developments at Visions is the growing instructional leadership of our Credentialed Teachers, Case Managers, and staff across the organization…and we are seeing that translate into staff taking the lead in meaningful ways.”

Dr. Lokteff also highlighted how far the work has come. “Our Guiding Coalitions are moving beyond learning about PLC practices to actively leading the work within their communities, setting goals, supporting their colleagues, and adapting practices to fit our unique educational model,” he added. “This is an important step forward for Visions as we continue to demonstrate what is possible when educators lead the work of improving student learning, even beyond the structures of a traditional school setting.”
Every educator left the Institute with a clearer sense of the difference they can make. For Visions families, that means a team of teachers and staff who are united by a shared vision and committed to high levels of learning for every student.
