November is American Indian & Alaska Native Heritage Month

This month, we honor American Indians and Alaska Natives. These communities have deep histories and rich cultures, and we celebrate their stories and experiences during this time.

The celebration of American Indians and other indigenous peoples began in 1986 as “American Indian Week.” From 1995 onward, this celebration was extended to a month-long recognition of the cultures and contributions of all native communities.
