When it came time for her son Jerry to begin fourth grade, Yang was eager to find an education program that would best support his individual needs.
After researching online, Yang discovered Visions. The family decided to enroll in Visions’ Home School Academy because they were looking for a more personalized learning experience and appreciated the opportunities available to students and families.
“As a family new to homeschooling, we were initially unsure of where to begin,” Yang explained. “However, from the very first interaction, we were met with nothing but professionalism, warmth, and an extraordinary level of competence. [Visions’] ability to provide timely, thoughtful, and thorough support has been nothing short of remarkable.”
Now, a few months into his fourth grade year as a Visionary, Jerry is thriving in his new learning environment.
As a Home School family, Yang and Jerry work closely with their credentialed teacher, Oanh Nguyen, to develop a daily schedule based on Jerry’s habits and learning needs. Together, they ensure he has enough time to complete his daily study tasks while also making time for activities and outside time.
One of Yang’s favorite aspects of their learning experience has been giving Jerry opportunities to explore topics through engaging explanations while also developing his self-study skills through independent reading.
In addition to at-home lessons, Jerry has been able to learn with standards-based curriculum through Rainbow Resource Center.
Through this personalized approach, Yang has seen Jerry become increasingly excited and eager to learn.
“He told me that he could learn new knowledge in the way he liked every day, which made him very excited.”
For Yang, the support from the Visions team has been an important part of the family’s transition into homeschooling. Having a dedicated teacher and a team available to answer questions has helped the family feel confident navigating their new educational experience.
“We especially want to thank our assigned teacher, whose patience and expertise have been a true lifeline for us,” explained Yang. “Even with our limited English proficiency, Visions’ team has never made us feel rushed or misunderstood. Instead, [they] took the time to listen carefully, explain things clearly, and ensure that every concern we had was fully addressed. It is rare to find such a dedicated group of people who genuinely care about the success and well-being of the families they serve.”
After several months in the homeschooling space, Jerry and Yang are feeling empowered and confident. They have the tools and resources they need to support Jerry’s education, along with the reassurance that they are never alone in the process.
When asked whether she would choose Visions again if she had to pick a school, Yang said, “Of course I would still choose Visions.”
“We truly believe Visions in Education is an exceptional institution, and we feel so fortunate to be part of [this] community.”
Yang said the family has continued to feel supported throughout their experience and appreciates the dedication of the Visions team.
“Visions has a team that serves families and students wholeheartedly, and each of them is striving to provide their best service. Overall, I feel supported and respected here. When I encounter difficulties, they always respond in time, which moves me very much…I’m very glad that I made the right choice.”
