Six years ago, Yui W. enrolled at Visions In Education with a goal: continue pursuing academic excellence while dedicating more time to her growing passion for tennis.
Today, that decision is helping her thrive both in her education and on the court.
Currently ranked No. 5 in California and No. 12 in the United States for her age group, Yui has established herself as one of the nation’s top young tennis players. Next school year, she will begin 10th grade in Visions University Prep Early College Academy, continuing to pursue her dream of competing at the Division I collegiate level.
Yui picked up a tennis racket for the first time at just 4 years old. By age 9, she had begun competing in tournaments and quickly discovered a love for the sport.
Reaching her current rankings has required years of dedication, discipline, and perseverance. Between practices, tournaments, travel, and training, Yui has worked tirelessly to develop her skills and compete against some of the best young athletes in the country.
Visions’ personalized learning model has allowed her to balance the demands of elite-level athletics with her education. With the flexibility to tailor her schedule, Yui can continue pursuing her tennis goals while staying focused on her academic success.
In addition to her accomplishments on the court, Yui is a strong student who continues to challenge herself academically. According to her credentialed teacher, Jennifer Russell, Yui is currently enrolled in honors coursework while maintaining her rigorous training and competition schedule.
One of Yui’s favorite aspects of being a Visions student has been the support she receives from her educational team. Working closely with her teacher and counselor, she has been able to personalize her learning experience in a way that supports both her academic and athletic goals.
When asked what she would share with students considering Visions, her response was simple:
“Visions will support you and give you [personalized] choices.”
Yui credits much of her success to the unwavering support of her parents.
“My biggest inspiration is my parents. They keep pushing me to work hard and support me every day,” she shared.
When she isn’t studying or training, Yui enjoys painting her nails and spending time pursuing her other interests.
As she looks toward the future, her goals remain clear: earn a spot in a Division I collegiate tennis program and continue pursuing opportunities to compete at the highest levels of the sport.
With her talent, determination, and strong support system, Yui is well on her way to achieving those dreams.
