Mentoring Programs

Students are given the opportunity to explore mentorship avenues that will supplement a positive culture centered around learning through education. Visions In Education provides three different programs for students currently enrolled in Visions to participate in.

Students seeking additional information about mentorship opportunities should reach out to a Visions’ counselor and/or teacher once enrolled.

Mindset Academy

The Mindset Academy (Mentorship Program) values the importance of student empowerment, mental and emotional wellness, and the realization of one’s unique talents and gifts. The program will provide mentorship services and tools that students need to navigate life’s obstacles, opportunities, and decisions. The team of Mindset Coaches will provide students in grades 7-12 with mentorship and guidance through social-emotional activity-based learning, weekly one-on-one coach check-ins, and participating in small group learning communities.

What are students saying about the program?

Students reported feeling empowered with goal setting, increased confidence, addressing procrastination, getting organized, creating meaningful friendships, and becoming a better version of themselves!

Bridge to College Program

A Partnership Between Visions In Education & Paper Wings Creative Consulting, LLC

The Bridge to College Program supports 11th and 12th-grade students who are the first in their immediate family to pursue a four-year college education (first-generation). Many first-generation students can face challenges with college, leading to uncertainty about enrollment, financial aid, and academic preparedness. This program is designed to build confidence, provide mentorship, and equip students with the tools needed to succeed in applying and attending college.

This program includes monthly meetings, college visits, peer mentorship, parent involvement and more.

“The Bridge to College program has helped me feel more confident about the college application process and feel less stressed. The support from mentors and structured guidance made everything feel more manageable. I now feel more prepared and excited for my future in college.” – Sadeya J., Visions Student

Success Through Education Mentoring (STEM)

Research shows that all it takes is one person to make a significant impact on a youth’s life. The goal of Success Through Education Mentoring (STEM) is to provide a community of mentors who will do just that!

STEM is a University of California, Davis-based educational resource program focused on mentoring high school students. The program is designed to help students continue their education beyond high school by building a social and educational community with other Visions In Education students. UC Davis undergraduates (mentors) from a variety of majors come together with high school students (mentees) for educational workshops that introduce students to the requirements and skills necessary for college and post-graduation success.

The support all year has been a blessing. Meeting with the mentors gave me an opportunity to learn what college would be like on a personal level as well as plan for what I need to do. The weekly check-ins provided were also helpful and I liked the interactive aspect. I also enjoyed listening to guest speakers.” – Visions Student
