As we prepare for another incredible school year, Visions welcomed our newest teachers and staff for our annual Welcome to Visions event.
While our enrollment continues to steadily increase, we have intentionally hired new educators and staff to our team to ensure that each and every one of our students and families are supported here at Visions.
This annual kickoff provides new team members with an introduction to our mission, values, and culture while equipping them with the tools, relationships, and inspiration they need to begin the school year with confidence.
Through leadership presentations, professional development, and opportunities to connect with colleagues, 150+ new staff experienced firsthand why It’s Good to Be Visions.
The day began with opening remarks from Visions Superintendent and Executive Director, Dr. Steve Olmos.
Dr. Olmos shared an overview of Visions’ history, growth, and organizational structure, highlighting how every department works together to support students, families, and staff. He reflected on the journey that has led Visions to become one of California’s largest non-classroom-based charter schools and a leader in personalized homeschool and online education.
Most importantly, Dr. Olmos reminded attendees of the purpose that unites every employee at Visions: preparing each student to succeed in a rapidly changing world. By keeping students at the center of every decision, staff help create learning experiences that empower every Visionary to thrive.
“Traditional schooling works for some, but doesn’t work for all. Here at Visions, we create and build opportunities based on identified student needs,” shared Dr. Olmos.
Following the welcome, Dr. Olmos introduced Armoni Easley of Easley Done & Company, who led an engaging professional and personal development session through The LifeWork Experience.
Armoni was joined by Junior Empowerment Facilitators Maribella K. (Grade 11, University Prep), Zarielle F. (Grade 11, Independent Study), Axel P. (Grade 11, University Prep), who brought the student perspective to life throughout the session.
During a student empowerment panel, each student reflected on their experiences at Visions, sharing meaningful moments, what helps them feel seen and supported, what qualities build trust with adults, and what they hope every new staff member understands about serving students.
Throughout the workshop, Armoni emphasized the idea that “you are the most important project you will ever work on.” He encouraged staff to pursue continuous growth by becoming 1% better each day—a mindset that aligns closely with Visions’ commitment to continuous improvement. By investing in themselves, staff are better equipped to make a lasting impact on the students and families they serve.

The event concluded with presentations from Chief Academic Officer Dr. Micah Studer, Chief Operations Officer Michael Brubaker, and Assistant Superintendent of Instruction Jen Morrison, who offered a deeper look at what makes Visions unique.
Leaders highlighted how collaboration across departments creates a seamless experience for students and families. Whether through the partnership between Instruction and Business Services or innovative tools like LPAD, every aspect of the organization is designed to provide personalized support and help students succeed.
“We are invested in supporting you,” shared Michael Brubaker. “We are a team, and together we share a focus of serving our students and families.”
As Visions continues to experience strong enrollment, growing student engagement, increasing graduation rates, and declining withdrawal rates, there is tremendous momentum heading into the new school year.
