Every student’s path to success is unique. For Harmain R. and his twin brother, Hasnain, that journey led them to Visions, where they found the support and personalized approach they needed to achieve their goals.
A year ago, Harmain enrolled in Visions’ University Prep Early College Academy after hearing about the program through a friend. With ambitious goals for his future, he was looking for an educational program that could support him in reaching them. “I ended up loving it,” he explained.
As a sophomore, Harmain accomplished an incredible goal: graduating high school in just two years. This summer, Harmain and his brother crossed the graduation stage together, delivering a heartfelt message to the Class of 2026 before beginning their next chapter. For Harmain, one of the most meaningful parts of his Visions experience was the support he received from his credentialed teachers and staff.
“When I first started, I didn’t really know how I was going to graduate two years early, but my teachers, counselors, and everyone else were incredibly supportive, kind, and understanding throughout the entire process,” he shared. “That level of support was something I truly appreciated, especially because it was an experience I hadn’t really had at my previous high school.”
Harmain developed strong relationships with his teachers and counselor as they worked together to create a personalized plan that would help him reach his ambitious goal. Throughout the process, he said his teachers consistently supported him and remained open-minded about the path he needed to take.
“That was something I truly needed, especially because graduating two years early required people who were willing to understand my situation, think outside the usual path, and help me make it possible.”
Among his favorite classes were English and Chemistry, where he especially appreciated the instruction and support of credentialed teachers Sarah Grassinger and Mikayla Laymance. “Both teachers were incredibly supportive and understanding, which made the classes even more enjoyable.”
Outside of the virtual classroom, Harmain found opportunities to connect with the Visions community through the California Scholarship Federation (CSF).
His favorite memory, however, was attending the StrengthsFinder student leadership camp through Visions’ partnership with Youth Development Network at Grizzly Creek Ranch in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. “This was a really meaningful experience for me,” Harmain explained. “I learned a lot about the people around me and realized how, as humans, we are often more alike than we are different.”
During camp, students participated in interactive workshops, team-building activities, and outdoor adventures while discovering their individual strengths, exploring strengths-based leadership, and learning how to use their talents to make a positive impact in their schools and communities.
“The camp taught me that we should all try to make the world a better place, even if it is through something as simple as one act of kindness or just a smile that can brighten someone else’s day.”
Beyond school activities, Harmain enjoys going to the gym, running, and playing sports including basketball, pickleball, and volleyball. He also loves reading books from many genres and eras.
With his goal of graduating early now accomplished, Harmain is already looking ahead to his next challenge: studying for the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) and applying to medical schools around the world.
When asked what advice he would share with other students, Harmain stated, “I would say don’t hesitate and just enroll because it’s 100% worth it. Also I would say reach out to your teachers, and counselors if you ever need help because they are so willing to help you no matter the situation.”
As Harmain begins this next chapter, he reflects on the role Visions played in helping him reach his goals.
“Thank you, Visions, for being such an important part of my educational journey and my life.”
