Introduction to Construction Directed Project

Visions In Education is excited to announce a new course opportunity for 11th and 12th grade students interested in exploring the construction trades!

The Introduction to Construction Directed Project will provide our Independent Study and University Prep students exposure to trade work while  while building teamwork, problem-solving, and employability skills. Students will learn tool safety, construction math, blueprint reading, and hands-on building skills through a mix of flexible online coursework and in-person training at Northern California Construction Training (NCCT) at Cal Expo in Sacramento.

Sample Course Highlights

Weeks 1–4: Safety fundamentals, OSHA-10 certification, and an industry field trip.

Weeks 5–7: Construction math and measurement, with applied field experience.

Weeks 8–10: Hand and power tool training through VR modules and shop projects.

Weeks 11–13: Introduction to construction drawings, measuring, and building real projects.

Weeks 14–17: Communication and employability skills, final projects, and potential community donations of student-built items.
